Holy Angels’ Religious Education Program (RE) continues the mission of Jesus Christ in His Church through sacred worship, sacraments, and catechetical ministry. The program exists so that each student will discover and build a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that lasts forever.
Our teachers are dedicated to the Catholic Faith and offer their time in order to hand the Faith on to the children in the parish.
It has been our practice to meet weekly on Sunday mornings from 9:15am – 10:15am during the school year. This timing makes it easy for families to coordinate RE with attending either the 8am Mass or the 10:30am Mass.
This year, pandemic precautions prompted our decision to move to an online program in which the children learn the weekly lesson and then take a quiz on the material presented. Parents oversee these lessons and the children meet together with their catechist every few weeks, on a schedule that allows both for building community and health protection. We are hoping to be back soon to meeting in person regularly.
In the summertime, Holy Angels hosts the Totus Tuus program (Latin for “Totally Yours”), a week-long program offered free of charge to parish children.
Totus Tuus hosts children in first through sixth grades in daytime (9am-3pm) sessions and works with young people in grades seven through 12 in evening session (7pm-8:30pm). Program instructors consist of college-age young adults who are on fire for the Catholic Faith and who train in ways to bring the Faith to the children with games, songs, fun activities, prayer; daily Mass is a key part of the program and children also have an opportunity to go to Confession.
Dates for the program are provided to the parish by Totus Tuus and announced as soon as we know them. Food is usually provided by volunteers.
