Music Ministry at Holy Angels Church
Sing to The Lord A New Song! Lift Your Voice in Praise to God! Rejoice and Be Glad!
These refrains come to life at Holy Angels Parish when cantors, choirs, pianists, organists, and other instrumentalists come together to celebrate Mass and to offer music during other special celebrations.
Pope St. John Paul II spoke of the importance of music, saying “Sacred music is the beauty that invites prayer” and prepares hearts for an intimate encounter with the Incarnate Lord. For this reason, music at Holy Angels parish has always been highly regarded.
In the last six years, though, our music ministry has grown and blossomed, responding even more fully and joyfully to its high calling of setting the stage for the faithful to move beyond the busyness of the world and into the heart of God’s love. In this way, music provides an opening for the faithful to lift their voices together in singing God’s praises, especially in the dialogues and responses of the Mass.
The Music ministry at Holy Angels provides beauty, joy, comfort, inspiration, and musical prayer for the Liturgy and for certain other parish celebrations. This is possible due to the generous sharing of time and talent by different individuals serving as cantors, choir and ensemble members, and instrumentalists who lead the congregation in sung prayer and worship. Musicians of all ages, abilities, and interests will find ways to “make a joyful noise unto the Lord” through the music ministry here. If you’re eager to share your musical abilities, please know that we would welcome you – just reach out to Laura Beeves, our music director.
We are blessed to have the following:

-Contemporary Choir, which sings one Saturday evening Vigil Mass each month; includes guitarists and singers of different interests.
-Knights of Columbus Men’s Choir, which is exclusive to members in the K of C.
-Schola Cantorum, focusing on chant, Latin, and polyphonic music.
